Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency

The mission of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is to preserve, conserve, protect, and enhance the fish and wildlife of the state and their habitats for the use, benefit, and enjoyment of the citizens of Tennessee and its visitors.  The Agency will foster the safe use of the state's waters through a program of law enforcement, education, and access.

Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area

The Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area tells the whole story of America’s greatest challenge, 1860-1875, through state-wide education, interpretation, and preservation programs and projects. Working with public and private partners, the Heritage Area provides support for quality heritage development programs while encouraging an enhanced preservation and conservation ethic for the state’s many significant Civil War and Reconstruction resources. Tennessee’s landscape is rich with powerful reminders of the Civil War’s compelling stories of the home front, the demands of occupation, the freedom of emancipation, and the promise of Reconstruction. Our partnerships are devoted to using these invaluable resources to build new educational, tourism and recreational opportunities for all Tennesseans.

Designated by Congress in November 1996, The Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area (TCWNHA) is administered as a program of the Center for Historic Preservation at Middle Tennessee State University.
